Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued six students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), and their driver after they were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Katsina State.
The victims were rescued during a security operation along the Dayi–Malumfashi road, where troops reportedly intercepted a vehicle conveying the abducted students and their driver.
The operation was carried out by troops of the 17 Brigade in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
The six students and the driver were subsequently taken to safety following the intervention of the security forces.
The rescue comes as security agencies continue operations across Katsina State to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities affecting residents and travellers.
Authorities are expected to provide further details on the operation and efforts to apprehend the suspected kidnappers.
