President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Sets Up High-Level Committee To Drive Structural Reforms And Boost Efficiency In Nigeria’s Petroleum Sector
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a Presidential Petroleum Reform and Value Optimisation Task Force aimed at designing the next phase of structural reforms in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
The task force will serve as a high-level executive working group responsible for developing practical strategies to strengthen governance, improve efficiency, and maximise value in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
According to a statement issued by the presidency, the committee has been mandated to produce execution-ready reform plans that will enhance transparency, attract investment, and improve the performance of the petroleum sector.
The task force will be chaired by Fola Adeola, co-founder of , who will lead a team of industry experts and professionals tasked with recommending policies that will support sustainable growth in the sector.
Other members of the task force include experienced professionals drawn from various sectors of the economy. The team is expected to collaborate with regulators, industry operators, investors, and other stakeholders to ensure that the proposed reforms align with global best practices.
The presidency noted that the task force is expected to deliver an interim report within three months, while a comprehensive final report will be submitted within six months.
The initiative forms part of the administration’s broader effort to transform Nigeria’s petroleum industry into a more competitive, transparent, and investment-friendly sector capable of supporting economic growth and increasing government revenue.
Analysts say the reform initiative could help unlock new investments in the oil and gas sector while strengthening Nigeria’s position in the global energy market.
