President Bola Ahmed Tinubu says infrastructural strides under FCT Minister Nyesom Wike delivered political dividends for the All Progressives Congress in the Area Council elections.

President Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), , stating that his administration’s achievements in Abuja contributed significantly to the electoral success of the (APC) in the just-concluded FCT Area Council elections.

In a statement released following the polls, President Tinubu noted that the infrastructural transformation and governance reforms witnessed across the Federal Capital Territory played a major role in boosting public confidence in the ruling party. He described Wike’s performance as impactful, adding that visible development projects across Abuja and the satellite towns helped translate governance efforts into “political dividends” for the APC.

The President congratulated the newly elected chairmen and councillors in the six Area Councils, urging them to justify the mandate given to them by residents through transparent leadership and grassroots-focused development. He emphasized the importance of consolidating on ongoing reforms to ensure sustainable growth in the FCT.

Tinubu also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and residents of the FCT for ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process. He called on political stakeholders to place the interest of Abuja residents above partisan considerations.

The APC’s performance in the FCT elections has been widely interpreted by party supporters as a reflection of growing public approval of the current administration’s policies and infrastructural drive in the nation’s capital.

Political observers note that the President’s public endorsement of Wike further underscores the strategic importance of the FCT in Nigeria’s political landscape, particularly as preparations gradually begin for future national elections.
