President Tinubu Directs Immediate Security Offensive After Deadly Niger State Attack
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Nigerian military, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately hunt down terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji community in Niger State and ensure the rescue of all abducted victims.
The directive followed a brutal raid on the community by heavily armed assailants, who killed several residents and abducted many others, including women and children, throwing the area into mourning and fear.
In a statement released on Saturday, President Tinubu condemned the attack, describing it as “barbaric, senseless and unacceptable.” He vowed that those responsible for the killings, as well as anyone aiding or harbouring them, would be decisively dealt with.
According to the President, top security officials — including the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the DSS — have been instructed to intensify operations across the affected areas and neighbouring communities.
“The Nigerian government will not allow criminals and terrorists to overrun innocent communities. Every effort must be made to rescue those abducted and restore peace,” Tinubu was quoted as saying.
The President also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Niger State, assuring them that his administration remains committed to tackling insecurity nationwide.
The attack on Kasuwan Daji is the latest in a series of violent assaults on rural communities in parts of northern Nigeria, where terrorists and armed bandits often exploit difficult terrain and limited security presence.
Residents have continued to call on the federal government to sustain military operations, dismantle terrorist hideouts, and strengthen intelligence-led policing to prevent future attacks.
As security forces move into the area, Nigerians await swift action and tangible results that will bring justice to the victims and lasting peace to the troubled region.
