FCT Minister says traditional institutions will be strengthened as 3rd Class chiefs move to 2nd Class across Abuja
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyson Wike has announced that all traditional rulers across the FCT will be promoted as part of ongoing reforms to strengthen traditional institutions in the territory.
The minister made the announcement during a “Thank You” meeting held in Abaji , where he addressed residents, stakeholders, and traditional leaders.
According to him, all Second-Class traditional rulers in the FCT will be elevated to First-Class status, while all Third-Class chiefs will be promoted to Second-Class.
The development is expected to significantly reshape the traditional leadership structure across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory.
Residents and stakeholders have described the announcement as a major step toward recognizing and strengthening the role of traditional rulers in governance, community leadership, and cultural preservation within the FCT.
