Florida Congressman Randy Fine Joins U.S. Resolution Criticizing Tinubu Government Over Religious Violence in Nigeria

A U.S. congressman, Randy Fine, has joined growing calls in the United States Congress condemning the Nigerian government over alleged complicity in violence targeting Christian communities. This latest development intensifies international scrutiny on President Bola Tinubu’s administration amid rising security concerns across Nigeria.

The congressman from Florida’s 6th district signed onto a resolution initially sponsored by Chris Smith, which accuses the Nigerian government of failing to protect vulnerable populations and calls for stronger U.S. diplomatic action. “The ongoing slaughter of innocent Christians by extremist groups in Nigeria is appalling,” Fine said in a statement. “The Nigerian government’s silence is deafening.”

This marks the second time in recent weeks that a U.S. congressman has publicly criticized the Tinubu government over its handling of religious violence and insecurity. The resolution urges the U.S. to intensify monitoring of attacks and pressure Nigeria to uphold human rights and protect all citizens.

Analysts say that such moves by American lawmakers highlight growing concern in Washington over Nigeria’s security situation. If the resolution gains traction, it could influence diplomatic relations and even foreign aid policies, placing additional pressure on the Tinubu administration to address internal security challenges.

Civil society groups in Nigeria have welcomed the international attention, emphasizing the need for the government to take decisive action against extremist groups responsible for widespread violence and displacement.

As the Nigerian government faces mounting criticism from foreign congressmen and international human rights observers, all eyes remain on Abuja to see how it will respond to growing international pressure and calls for accountability.
