APC Schedules National Convention for March 2026 as Party Activates Nationwide Congress Calendar
Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced dates for its 2026 national convention, setting the stage for major internal leadership decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the timetable released by the APC National Secretariat, the national convention will run from Wednesday, March 25 to Saturday, March 28, 2026, following a full round of party congresses across the country.
The schedule was approved at a national caucus meeting, where party leaders emphasized the importance of internal restructuring and unity as preparations intensify for future electoral contests.
Congress Timetable Breakdown
- Ward Congresses: February 18, 2026
- Local Government Congresses: February 20, 2026
- State Congresses: March 7, 2026
- Zonal Congresses: March 21, 2026
The APC also confirmed that membership re-registration and other pre-congress activities, which began in December 2025, will continue into early 2026. These efforts form part of the groundwork for selecting delegates who will participate in the national convention.
Party officials say the structured timetable aligns with the APC constitution and is aimed at promoting transparency, strengthening internal democracy, and improving organizational discipline.
The national convention is expected to produce a new lineup of party executives and ratify leadership positions crucial to the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
Political analysts note that the APC’s internal calendar remains under close national watch, as decisions taken within the ruling party are likely to reshape political alliances and influence Nigeria’s broader electoral climate.
As preparations continue, all eyes remain on the party’s next major milestone — the March convention — a defining moment for APC’s leadership and strategic positioning in the months ahead.
