ADC Rejects INEC Derecognition of David Mark-Led NWC, Vows Court Action

ADC Party describes electoral commission’s decision as unlawful, insists only courts can determine leadership dispute ahead of 2027 elections

In a statement reacting to the development, the party described INEC’s action as unlawful, unconstitutional, and a direct interference in its internal affairs.

INEC had earlier announced the removal of the David Mark-led NWC from its official records, citing a recent Court of Appeal judgment and ongoing leadership disputes within the party. The commission stated that it would refrain from recognising any faction until the courts provide a final determination.

However, the ADC insisted that the electoral body misinterpreted the court ruling and exceeded its constitutional powers by taking administrative steps that affect the party’s leadership structure.

The party maintained that the leadership under David Mark remains valid and operational, stressing that only a competent court of law has the authority to decide on such matters.

According to the ADC, it has commenced legal proceedings to challenge INEC’s decision, vowing to defend what it described as the integrity and independence of the party.

The leadership crisis within the ADC has been ongoing, with rival factions laying claim to the party’s structure and seeking judicial recognition.

The party warned that INEC’s stance could set a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democracy, especially as political alignments and preparations for the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
