Major cabinet reshuffle sees new Housing Minister named as presidency pushes economic reforms
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a significant cabinet reshuffle, appointing Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
Oyedele replaces Wale Edun, who has been relieved of his duties as part of the shake-up aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economic management team.
In a related development, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, has also been sacked. The President has named Muttaqha Rabe Darma as his replacement, pending necessary confirmations.
The presidency stated that the changes are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic governance, improve fiscal performance, and accelerate reforms across key sectors of the economy.
Sources within the administration indicate that all affected ministers have been directed to complete their handover processes on or before April 23, 2026.
The reshuffle underscores the administration’s commitment to recalibrating its economic strategy amid ongoing fiscal and development challenges.
