Party Chairman Says AUA Has Directed APC Supporters to Back Tinubu, Aduda and Bayani Ahead of 2027
The political landscape in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory witnessed a significant development as Hon. Mohammed Angulu Loko, the YPP candidate for the 2026 Abaji chairmanship election and thousands of his followers officially defected to the APC.
Loko made the declaration during a political engagement attended by Distinguished Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda, MFR, CON; FCT APC Chairman, Hon. Ishaku Tanko Yamawo; Abuja South Federal Constituency candidate, Danladi Chiya, Kuje Area council chairman and other party leaders and supporters.

The engagement began with a visit to the palace of the Ona of Abaji, who warmly received Senator Aduda and his entourage and prayed for peace during the forthcoming elections.
Speaking at the event, the Abaji APC Chairman said the visit demonstrated that previous differences among key political stakeholders, including Senator Aduda, Bayani and the Executive Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Hon. AUA, had been resolved.

He added that Hon. AUA had directed APC supporters in Abaji to support the party and vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda and Bayani.
FCT APC Chairman, Ishaku Tanko Yamawo, urged party executives to intensify grassroots mobilisation and warned against allowing tribal or religious sentiments to divide the people.

Senator Aduda called for continued love, peace and unity among the people of Abaji, assuring stakeholders that he would return for the official campaign.

The gathering later moved to the Abaji Town Hall, where a large crowd welcomed the APC leader and his entourage.
Declaring his defection, Loko said he chose to join the APC because he wanted to work with Senator Aduda and believed that the Aduda-led team was the winning team.

The development is expected to further reshape the political calculations in Abaji ahead of the 2026 Area Council election and the 2027 general elections.
