A group of operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been kidnapped by armed bandits while travelling to Kwara State to arrest a suspected internet fraudster.
According to preliminary security reports, the EFCC team was ambushed along a remote route when heavily armed attackers blocked the road and opened fire on their operational vehicle. The bandits reportedly overpowered the officers and whisked them into the forest.
Security agencies have since launched a coordinated search-and-rescue mission to locate the kidnappers and ensure the safe return of the abducted officials. A senior security source confirmed that intelligence teams, tactical units, and local vigilante groups are now collaborating to track the movements of the armed group.
The incident has sparked nationwide concern, especially as insecurity along major highways continues to worsen. Many Nigerians have taken to social media, calling for intensified security measures and offering prayers for the safe rescue of the EFCC operatives. Authorities are expected to release an official statement as investigations progress.
