Governor Uba Sani signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Ministry of Health, paving the way for the full take-off of the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan.
The Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Governor Senator Uba Sani, CON, has officially handed over the Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Memorial Hospital to the Federal Government to facilitate the full take-off of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Kafanchan.
The development was formalised following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by Governor Uba Sani, ceding the hospital to the Federal Ministry of Health.

The handover marks a significant step towards establishing the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, a development expected to strengthen healthcare delivery and expand access to medical services in Southern Kaduna and neighbouring communities.

The transition to federal ownership is expected to facilitate the commencement of operations under the Federal Medical Centre framework, potentially improving access to specialised medical care and reducing pressure on existing healthcare facilities in the region.
Named after the late Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, a former governor of Kaduna State, the hospital holds historical significance for the state.
The development also highlights the importance of collaboration between state and federal governments in strengthening public healthcare infrastructure and improving access to quality medical services.
Further details regarding the commencement of full operations, administrative arrangements and additional federal healthcare services at the facility are expected as the transition progresses.
