Defence Headquarters confirms implementation of the new military salary structure, with personnel in eligible ranks receiving increased September salaries.
Nigerian military personnel have begun receiving their September salaries with the newly approved salary increases reflected in their accounts, according to confirmation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
The development follows the Federal Government’s implementation of a new salary structure for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces, with increases ranging from 30 per cent to 80 per cent depending on rank.
Under the approved structure, personnel from the rank of Private to Staff Sergeant are entitled to an 80 per cent salary increase, while those from Warrant Officer to Colonel are to receive a 50 per cent increase. Officers above the rank of Colonel are entitled to a 30 per cent increase.
The revised salary structure took effect from September 1, 2026, and is expected to benefit approximately 250,000 personnel across the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force.
The implementation is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the welfare and working conditions of members of the Armed Forces, particularly personnel serving in various security operations across the country.
With the latest payments, eligible military personnel can now see the approved salary adjustments reflected in their September earnings.
