Beijing-China Condemns Unilateral Actions, Warns Against Violation of Sovereignty Following U.S. Detention of Venezuelan President
The republic of China has strongly criticized the detention of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, declaring that it will never accept any country acting as the “world’s judge” or global police.
China’s reaction follows reports that the United States captured and detained President Maduro, a development that has sparked widespread international debate over sovereignty, international law, and the use of force in global affairs.
Speaking through its foreign ministry, China warned that unilateral actions carried out outside the framework of international law undermine global stability and threaten the principles of mutual respect among nations.
According to Beijing, no country has the right to impose its will on another sovereign state under the guise of justice, stressing that international disputes should be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy, and established legal mechanisms rather than force.
China further emphasised that state sovereignty and territorial integrity remain the cornerstone of international relations, noting that selective enforcement of justice could set a dangerous precedent for global governance.
The detention of Maduro has already drawn reactions from several countries and international organisations, with growing concerns that such actions could escalate geopolitical tensions, particularly between major world powers.
Analysts say China’s statement reflects broader concerns among developing and non-aligned nations, many of which fear that powerful countries may increasingly bypass international institutions to pursue unilateral interests.
As discussions continue at the global level, the incident is expected to feature prominently in diplomatic engagements and international forums, including the United Nations, where questions surrounding legality and accountability are likely to dominate debates.
