Hon. Abuja Zakanbonton Leads Massive Political Shift as Decampees Strengthen APC in Kubwa
The political atmosphere in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, is heating up as the All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a major victory with the reception of a large number of decampees from the PDP and ADC. The event, which took place today, marks one of the most significant political realignments in Kubwa ahead of the 2026 elections.
Leading the wave of decampees was N. Abuja Zakanbonton, a former PDP aspirant in the 2025 primaries. He stated that their collective decision to join the APC was driven by the party’s growing influence and their commitment to supporting Hon. Shekwolo Haruna Audi ahead of the 21st February 2026 election.
The move has been described by many as a strategic boost for the APC in Kubwa Ward, further strengthening its grassroots structure and increasing its chances across the Bwari Area Council.
Also present at the event were several notable political figures, including:
- Hon. Nyawosa Dikko, Former PDP Kubwa Ward Chairman
- Prince Ezekiel Bawa Shaibu, Former SSA to late Hon. Peter Yohanna
- Hon. David Net, Former Supervisory Councillor, Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State
- And other influential community leaders

Receiving the decampees on behalf of the ward EXCO, the APC Ward Chairman, Hon. Alh. Bissala Adamu, described the returnees as familiar faces with proven political capacity. He assured them of a level playing ground and full integration into the party’s activities.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Adamu Ibrahim Dakwa, the APC Kubwa Ward Councillorship flagbearer, expressed confidence that with the calibre of individuals joining the party, APC is well-positioned for victory from the ward level to the FCT at large.
The latest development signals a major shift in Kubwa politics, setting the stage for an intense and closely watched FCT Bwari Area Council 2026 election, as reported by Bala Ali Sule
