HRH Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III Joins Regional Leaders, Traditional Rulers and Security Stakeholders to Advance Collaborative Solutions to Insecurity
The Etsu Kwali and Chairman of the Kwali Council of Chiefs, His Royal Highness Luka Ayedoo Nizassan III, on Monday, August 31, 2026, represented the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council of Chiefs at the 2026 North Central Zone Security Summit held in Makurdi, Benue State.
The high-level summit brought together government officials, traditional rulers and other key stakeholders from across the North Central geopolitical zone to deliberate on security challenges and explore collaborative approaches towards achieving lasting peace and regional stability.
The summit was convened at the instance of the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu serving as Guest of Honour. The President was represented at the event by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, CON.
Held under the theme, “Collaborative Approaches to Strengthening Security and Regional Stability,” the summit focused on the need for stronger cooperation among governments, traditional institutions, security agencies and communities in tackling emerging security threats across the region.
As the traditional leader representing the FCT at the summit, the presence of the Etsu Kwali shows the efficacy of traditional institutions in supporting peacebuilding, community engagement and security efforts.
The summit attracted the participation of Governors of Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa States, while other North Central states were represented by delegates.
Prominent traditional rulers also in attendance included the Emir of Lafia, the Aodoma of Doma, the Emir of Keffi, the Ohinoyi of Igbira Land, the Tor Tiv, the Och’Idoma and the Esu Karu of New Karu.
The participation of the Etsu Kwali provided the FCT traditional institution with representation at the regional security dialogue, reinforcing the importance of inclusive engagement in addressing security concerns that affect communities across the North Central region.
The summit further provided an avenue for traditional leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen regional cooperation and contribute to collective efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability across the North Central zone.
