Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo directs urgent assessment and rehabilitation of health centres, water facilities and other critical public infrastructure across Kuje Area Council.
The Executive Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Hon. Danjuma Samuel Shekwolo, has concluded a two-day inspection of public facilities across the Area Council, expressing concern over the deteriorating condition of some critical infrastructure and directing immediate steps toward their assessment and rehabilitation.
The inspection, which concluded today, took the Chairman and his team to several public facilities across different communities, including the Ukya Primary Health Care Centre, Atako Water Board, Gwargwada Water Reservoir, Gwargwada Primary Health Care Centre, Munu Water Board, Rubochi Development Area Secretariat, Rubochi Police Division, Rubochi Town Hall, Rubochi Women Development Centre and Rubochi Primary Health Care Centre, among others.
The exercise provided the Chairman with an opportunity to assess the condition of the facilities firsthand and identify areas requiring urgent government intervention.
Following the inspection, Hon. Shekwolo directed relevant officials to undertake detailed assessments of the facilities, identify immediate maintenance and rehabilitation needs, and submit recommendations towards restoring them to functional and effective use.
The Chairman expressed particular concern over the level of deterioration observed in some of the facilities, stressing that public infrastructure must be properly maintained to ensure residents derive maximum benefit from government investments.
According to him, improving essential infrastructure remains a key priority of his administration, particularly facilities that directly affect healthcare delivery, access to water, security, administration and the general wellbeing of residents.
Hon. Shekwolo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising projects and interventions with direct impact on the people, while assuring residents that identified infrastructure challenges would receive appropriate attention based on available resources and assessed needs.
He also appealed to residents, community leaders and other stakeholders to take ownership of public facilities by protecting them from vandalism, misuse and deliberate damage.
The Chairman maintained that the responsibility of preserving public infrastructure goes beyond government, noting that collective ownership and community participation are essential to ensuring that public facilities remain functional and continue to serve present and future generations.
The two-day inspection forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to assess infrastructure across Kuje Area Council, identify critical gaps and develop practical interventions aimed at improving public service delivery.
