Six Area Council Chairmen, Dignitaries Gather in Kwali as Daniel Nuhu Champions Grassroots Sports Development
The 2026 Kwali Chairmanship Cup has officially kicked off in Kwali Area Council, with six Area Council Chairmen, sports stakeholders and other dignitaries gathering for the opening ceremony of the highly anticipated grassroots football tournament.
The event also featured the presence of former Super Eagles captain and Nigerian football legend, Joseph Yobo, who commended the Executive Chairman of Kwali Area Council, Hon. Daniel Nuhu, for his commitment to promoting sports and youth development in the council.
Yobo applauded the initiative, describing it as a commendable investment in the future of young people and grassroots football. He noted that sustained support for sports at the local level is essential to discovering, nurturing and empowering the next generation of Nigerian football talents.
The former Super Eagles captain further urged other Area Council Chairmen and leaders to emulate the efforts of Hon. Daniel Nuhu by creating more opportunities for youths to develop their talents through sports.
The gathering of six Area Council Chairmen and other dignitaries underscored the growing importance of grassroots sports development across the Federal Capital Territory.
The Chairmanship Cup is expected to provide young footballers with a platform to showcase their talents, compete at a higher level and attract opportunities that could advance their football careers.
