Prof. Segun Aina outlines ambitious 2026–2031JAMB roadmap focused on digital innovation, transparency, AI integration, and improved admissions experience for candidates nationwide.

Nigeria’s new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, has unveiled a comprehensive five-year strategic plan aimed at transforming the country’s tertiary admissions system through innovation, technology, and improved service delivery.

The roadmap, titled “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,” was presented during his assumption of office and outlines the Board’s vision for modernising admissions processes between 2026 and 2031.

According to the new Registrar, the strategic plan is designed to enhance public confidence in Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board by promoting transparency, efficiency, accountability, and candidate-centred service delivery. The initiative is built around two strategic objectives, five key pillars, and seven flagship projects that will guide the Board’s operations over the next five years.

As part of the reforms, JAMB plans to expand its digital infrastructure, integrate artificial intelligence into key operations, strengthen cybersecurity, adopt paperless processes, improve complaint resolution mechanisms, and introduce a unified mobile platform to make access to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board services easier for candidates and stakeholders.

Prof. Aina said the vision is to position Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board as a globally respected examination and admissions body that leverages technology to deliver efficient, secure, and transparent services while reducing the challenges faced by prospective students during the admissions process.

He also pledged to consolidate on the achievements of previous administrations while implementing reforms that improve operational efficiency and deepen collaboration with tertiary institutions, government agencies, and other education stakeholders.

The unveiling of the roadmap comes at a time when millions of Nigerian students rely on JAMB for admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions, making the successful implementation of the reforms a significant development in Nigeria’s education sector.
