Niger state Governor sacks his aides
Minna, Niger State — Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has approved the immediate sack of all 30 Special Advisers serving in his administration.
The decision was announced on Tuesday during the governor’s first State Executive Council meeting following the swearing-in of newly appointed commissioners.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, the move is part of a broader administrative restructuring aimed at improving efficiency and aligning governance with the administration’s “New Niger” development agenda.
Reason for the Sack
The governor explained that the dissolution of the Special Advisers’ positions was necessary to reorganise government operations, enhance performance, and ensure effective service delivery across ministries and agencies.
The statement added that the affected advisers were relieved of their duties to allow the government to redefine roles and streamline decision-making processes.

Governor Bago expressed appreciation to the sacked advisers for their service to the state and wished them success in their future endeavours.
Political observers believe the move signals a fresh phase in the Bago administration, with expectations that new appointments or structural changes may follow in the coming weeks.
Governor Bago has, in recent months, taken steps to restructure political appointments in Niger State as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve policy implementation.
