Ilorin, Kwara State — Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has criticized the Supreme Court of Nigeria for what he described as inconsistency and excessive reliance on technicalities rather than delivering substantive justice.
Speaking at the second Prof. Yusuf Ali Annual Lecture organized by Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Osinbajo — a Professor of Law — said the nation’s justice system requires urgent and fundamental restructuring to serve the people effectively.
He emphasized that Nigeria’s courts must prioritize fairness and equity over procedural formalities, warning that continued focus on technicalities undermines public trust in the judiciary.
