President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers and committed to reviewing the national minimum wage law every three years.
This announcement was made during a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga reported that President Tinubu also promised to support the private sector and regional governments in implementing the new wage.
Additionally, he assured university unions of his intent to address their demands for unpaid salaries.
The labour leaders appreciated President Tinubu’s efforts and described them as a “fatherly gesture.”
