No injuries recorded as Qatar aircraft makes safe landing at Lagos airport.
A Qatar Airways passenger aircraft on Friday made an emergency landing at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following a reported fault in its onboard oxygen system.
According to reports, the aircraft, which was carrying over 200 passengers and crew members, developed a technical issue while flying over Nigerian airspace, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency and request an immediate landing in Lagos.
Aviation and emergency response agencies were immediately placed on alert as the aircraft descended. Firefighters, medical personnel, and airport rescue teams were fully deployed on the ground to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
The aircraft landed safely without any injuries recorded. All passengers were successfully evacuated and escorted from the plane as safety checks were conducted.
Sources within the airport confirmed that the fault was linked to the aircraft’s oxygen system, although Qatar Airways has yet to release an official statement detailing the extent of the malfunction.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and other relevant aviation authorities are expected to commence investigations into the incident to determine the cause of the fault and ensure compliance with international aviation safety standards.
