Appointment Seen As Move To Strengthen Nigeria’s Internal Security Architecture

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed retired Major General Adamu Mohammed Fadewa as Special Adviser on Homeland Security as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s internal security framework.

The appointment, announced on Sunday, is expected to reinforce the administration’s ongoing strategy toward combating insecurity, improving intelligence coordination, and enhancing national stability across the country.

Maj. Gen. Fadewa, a retired senior military officer with extensive experience in security operations and strategic defence management, is expected to work closely with key security agencies and the office of the National Security Adviser to address emerging internal threats.

The development comes amid growing concerns over banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and communal conflicts affecting several parts of Nigeria. Analysts believe the appointment signals the Federal Government’s renewed commitment to tightening homeland security measures and improving inter-agency collaboration.

President Tinubu’s administration has repeatedly pledged to prioritise national security since assuming office, with several reforms and appointments already introduced within the defence and intelligence sectors.
