Wike warns land allottees to develop within six months or face revocation
The has signed development agreements with and to transform into a major recreation and tourism hub in the heart of Abuja.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of the , , said the nation’s capital is rapidly expanding and holds strong potential as a destination for leisure and hospitality. He, however, expressed worry that development across key areas has been slowed by land speculators who secure plots and fail to build on them.
He warned that the administration would no longer allow allottees to sit on government land indefinitely, stressing that those granted land for projects must show visible progress within six months or risk revocation.
“For those that have applied for land for development, they will get it done in the next six months, and we will revoke it if it is not done,” the minister stated.
Managing Director of Suburban Broadband Limited, Pankaj Khandelwal, described the agreement as a major milestone for the company. He said the investment is expected to stimulate socioeconomic activities, create employment opportunities and boost Abuja’s attractiveness to investors.
In his remarks, Bamisile Olukayode of Akida Hills Limited commended the minister’s drive for rapid infrastructure delivery. He said the Jabi Lake project would be an exciting development and could compare with world-renowned attractions such as and the .
Olukayode assured that once completed, the project would elevate Abuja’s global profile and promised that delivery would be achieved before the end of the year.
The initiative is part of broader efforts by the FCTA to enhance tourism, create jobs and ensure that allocated lands contribute directly to the growth and modernization of the capital city.
