FCT project reconnects communities, boosts mobility and opens new economic opportunities
The ongoing transformation of the Federal Capital Territory is increasingly extending beyond the city centre, with major infrastructure projects reaching both urban and satellite communities across the FCT.
According to Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, Director of the Reform Coordination and Service Improvement Department, FCTA, the scale, pace and geographical spread of the ongoing projects are redefining expectations of what the FCT Administration can accomplish.
After 16 years of waiting, residents of Apo, Karshi and neighbouring communities are beginning to see renewed hope as the long-awaited road project moves towards completion.
The road, which was once associated with prolonged abandonment, is gradually being transformed into a vital corridor for mobility, commerce and economic opportunities, with the potential to improve connectivity for residents and businesses within the axis.
Ahmadu described the development as part of the broader impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT, where government commitments are being translated into physical projects aimed at improving the daily lives of residents.

She noted that the significance of the projects goes beyond the construction of roads, stressing that improved infrastructure can reconnect communities, stimulate economic activities and enhance access to opportunities.
The development also reflects the FCT Administration’s emphasis on visible infrastructure delivery across different parts of the territory, particularly in communities that have experienced years of inadequate connectivity.
“The essence of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT is promises translated into projects, projects translated into improved living conditions, and leadership measured by visible results,” Ahmadu said.
She added that the ongoing infrastructure drive demonstrates how purposeful government intervention can address longstanding challenges and create renewed confidence among residents.
With projects such as the Apo-Karshi road progressing after years of delay, communities across the axis are looking forward to the broader social and economic benefits that improved road connectivity can bring.
For the FCT Administration, the infrastructure programme represents an effort to ensure that development reaches beyond the traditional urban centres and extends to satellite communities, strengthening the connection between residents, businesses and opportunities across the Federal Capital Territory.
