Police shake-up follows leadership transition in Nigeria Police Force as new acting IGP begins restructuring

The Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has reportedly removed ACP Bukola Yemisi Kuti from her position as Principal Staff Officer (PSO) at the Force Headquarters, in what is seen as one of the first key administrative decisions under his leadership.

According to reports by , ACP Kuti has been redeployed to the (NIPSS), Kuru, Plateau State. The redeployment is believed to be part of a broader restructuring within the following the recent transition at the top of the Force.

Disu assumed office after the exit of his predecessor, , following approval by President . Since taking over, the acting IGP has reportedly initiated strategic changes aimed at strengthening discipline, improving operational efficiency, and restoring public confidence in policing across the country.

ACP Kuti had served as PSO to the IGP, a sensitive and strategic role that involves coordinating high-level communications, managing schedules, and facilitating internal administrative processes within the Force Headquarters. Her removal is being interpreted in some quarters as part of the new leadership’s efforts to realign the command structure and assert control over key operational positions.

Although official details surrounding the redeployment remain limited, the development signals ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force as the new acting IGP sets the tone for his administration, with implications for security management in Abuja and other parts of Nigeria.
