Former Public Complaints Commissioner and ADC Senatorial aspirant Hon. Ezekiel Dalhatu says the growing rate of joblessness in the FCT is unacceptable considering Abuja hosts virtually all major government institutions.
Former Public Complaints Commissioner and ADC Senatorial aspirant, Hon. Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu, has expressed concern over the increasing rate of unemployment in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), despite Abuja being home to virtually all federal ministries and government headquarters.
Speaking during an interview with AGTV in Abuja, Ezekiel Dalhatu described the situation as disturbing, especially for young people and graduates who continue to struggle to secure meaningful employment opportunities in the nation’s capital.
According to him, Abuja should naturally provide more opportunities for residents because of the concentration of government institutions, agencies, and economic activities within the city.
He noted that many youths in the FCT still face hardship and uncertainty due to the lack of jobs, stressing that the situation requires urgent attention from government at all levels.
Dalhatu also called for deliberate policies aimed at creating jobs, empowering youths, and ensuring that residents and indigenous communities in the FCT are not left behind in employment opportunities across ministries and agencies.
He added that reducing unemployment would not only improve livelihoods but also help tackle poverty, insecurity, and other social challenges affecting the territory.
