Unsealing PDP national secretariat, Faction alleges partisan interference by security agencies, insists matter remains in court
In a statement issued on Saturday, the faction accused the police of interfering in an internal party dispute despite the matter being subject to ongoing judicial proceedings. According to the group, the action undermines the rule of law and raises concerns about the neutrality of security agencies in political matters.
The Turaki-led faction maintained that the secretariat was previously sealed based on legitimate directives and insisted that no authority should have reversed such action while a court appeal is still pending.
They further alleged that the police acted under external influence, warning that such conduct could set a dangerous precedent for democratic institutions in Nigeria.
Reaffirming their commitment to due process, the faction disclosed plans to initiate legal action against the police and any other parties involved in the unsealing of the facility.
The group also called on relevant authorities to respect the independence of the judiciary and refrain from actions that could compromise ongoing legal proceedings.
As tensions continue within the PDP, political observers say the development may deepen internal divisions within the party ahead of future political engagements.
