Aggrieved party stakeholders insist no valid primary election was conducted, raising concerns over APC’s internal democratic process ahead of 2027.
Fresh tension has emerged within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following allegations by some party members that a candidate is being imposed on the party without a valid primary election.
The protesting members reportedly claimed that no recognized primary election was conducted in the AMAC/Bwari constituency to produce the individual being presented as the party’s candidate. They further alleged that Hon. John Gabaya who is the person being promoted is not a registered member of the APC.
The aggrieved stakeholders expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as a lack of transparency in the candidate selection process, warning that such actions could undermine party unity and discourage loyal members who have worked for the party over the years.
According to the group, the APC leadership should ensure that all candidates emerge through credible and transparent processes in line with the party’s constitution and democratic principles.
The development adds to growing concerns about internal disagreements within the ruling party as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The allegations were reported by Sahara Reporters. At the time of the report, responses from the affected party officials were not immediately available.
