Trump Declares Himself ‘Acting President Of Venezuela’ In Viral Post 2026

Trump’s viral post triggers global backlash and legal questions.

United States President Donald Trump has sparked widespread controversy after declaring himself “Acting President of Venezuela” in a viral social media post that has since ignited global reactions.

President Donald made the claim via a post shared on Truth Social, where he uploaded an image designed to resemble a Wikipedia page, describing himself as “Acting President of Venezuela, Incumbent January 2026.” The post quickly went viral, drawing criticism and confusion from political observers and international actors.

According to Sahara Reporters, the post comes amid escalating tensions between the United States and Venezuela following recent developments surrounding Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. While Trump did not provide any legal or constitutional basis for his claim, analysts have described the move as provocative and symbolic rather than legitimate.

There is no recognition from Venezuela’s government, the United States Congress, or any international body backing Trump’s claim. Political experts argue that the declaration violates established principles of national sovereignty and international law.

Reactions online have been mixed, with some President Donald supporters praising the move as bold political messaging, while critics describe it as dangerous misinformation capable of destabilizing diplomatic relations in Latin America.

The Venezuelan government has yet to issue an official response to President Donald’s claim as of the time of filing this report. However, analysts warn that such statements could further complicate already strained US-Venezuela relations.

Trump, who previously recognized opposition leader Juan Guaidó as Venezuela’s interim president during his tenure, has a history of strong rhetoric against the Maduro administration.
